We want safer nights out for all.

Good Night Out Vancouver is a BC-based Non-Profit society, governed by a board of directors and powered by a team of amazing volunteers.

Good Night Out offers:

Workshops on sexual violence prevention for restaurants, bars, pubs, festivals, art spaces and more. Our primary activities are focused on supporting partners to build and improve their own prevention and response capacities.

We offer our partners tools to help keep patrons and workers safe. We also support spaces and teams through at-event safety outreach, environmental audits and help with policy and prevention plans. Our work has been recognized on a local, national, and international level.

Good Night Out does not offer:

As our primary activities are focused on prevention and education, Good Night Out Vancouver is not a reporting organization. Receiving and acting on individual disclosures of harm in the community (unless of course, it relates to our team) is outside of our scope and resources. Our Granville Street Team and other programs do provide ‘in the moment supports,’ and will link those impacted with reporting entities and share information about ongoing support and advocacy organizations as people wish.

While we are always happy to share resources for survivors, we are also not a victim services or crisis organization. WAVAW, BWSS and VSAC all do great work in providing services to survivors.

We are a tiny volunteer-powered organization and it is important that we only take on what we are resourced to do. This also allows us to do what we do best! Thank you for respecting this.

If you are in need of support with accountability processes, victim advocacy, or legal navigation, please email us, as our resources page is currently being updated for accuracy!

Good Night Out was founded:

Out of an awareness of the links between alcohol consumption and sexual aggression and initiated from community concerns that staff and patrons in the nightlife, music and hospitality sectors could benefit from education around how to recognize, interrupt, and prevent sexual harassment and assault.

Our Funding looks like:

Street Team: City of Vancouver + ??? (currently seeking funding, consider donating today!)

Education Program: Government of British Columbia

Victoria and Island Work: Canadian Women’s Foundation, City of Victoria and a partnership with Ending Violence Association of BC

We use:

Recent research and best practices on gendered violence, bystander intervention, and anti-oppressive techniques to create a variety of original educational tools, interventions and messaging aimed at reducing gendered and homophobic harassment and violence in our city’s arts, culture and entertainment scene.

We are committed to:

Engaging the industry on these issues in ways that are authentic, meaningful and interactive while remaining survivor-centered. Read more about our equity and accountability work here.
