Good Night Out Vancouver is excited to announce that we are setting up shop to help create safer nights out on Vancouver Island. We recognize that the home base of this work is located on on the territories of the lək̓ʷəŋən peoples and that addressing sexual violence involves ongoing work to dismantle colonialism, as the 2 are inextricably tied.

How are we creating safer hospitality spaces on the island?

Currently, we are offering sexual violence prevention training to Vancouver Island hospitality establishments through our self-paced, online TIPS program and our live in-person or virtual trainings. Cafes, restaurants, bars, hotels, nightclubs and events / event spaces can now easily organize training for their team.

Currently, we are offering virtual and in-person live training. Our training uses a unique lens for your industry and is full of useful and practical tips to address, prevent and respond to sexualized violence. Training is currently free and / or heavily subsidized due to funding from the City of Victoria and Canadian Women’s Foundation and with support from Ending Violence Association of BC.

Our training helps to create a safer environment for both patrons and staff, a lens that only a few projects of this nature have. The content will depend on which level your establishment is at, and which workshop you have booked. To learn more about our level system, click here.

No time for in person training?

TIPS (Training in Prevention and Safety) is a free online course specifically created for the bars, restaurant and hospitality industry in Victoria. The course is intended for employers (owners, managers, supervisors) and employees. It includes modules on how to strengthen workplace culture, recognize and respond to incidents, support those impacted, and an overview of legal requirements. This course takes a 360 degree approach that includes staff and patrons.
